THE INDIA SUPERCYCLE
India is on the cusp of an economic supercycle and long term investors should take note.
An economic supercycle is a sustained period, panning decades, of expansion that comprehensively and holistically transforms an economy. The foundation of a supercycle is usually laid towards the end of an unusually painful period for the society that creates political will that steers the effort of the population towards radical change and reform. As the economy sputters out of its darkest hour, a feeling of euphoria, a can-do attitude, sets in the country which in turn bolsters agency, risk-taking, innovation and productivity gains. This sets into motion the wheels for widespread employment generation, sustained demand creation, rising income levels, higher standard of living, better health outcomes, higher education, spending on art and a focus on wellbeing.
