WheelTug
E-taxi system for faster, safer and sustainable ground movements

Every passenger experiences it: you go to the airport, go through security, board the airplane, sit down, and … wait. The time between the aircraft door closing, and taxiing forward to the runway under engine power averages 9 minutes today, but it is not uncommon for that process to take 20 minutes or more!
This delay is not only frustrating for passengers; it is also deeply inefficient for the airlines as well. After all, the only way airlines make money flying people and cargo is by, well, flying. Time on the ground is wasted opportunity.
WheelTug offers the solution to this problem. We have an integrated replacement nosewheel that is electrically driven. Bundled with a camera system, we get rid of the ground tug, the need for ground personnel during pushback, and a whole range of associated processes and hassles. The net result is that we will save 7-20 minutes each and every flight!
On top of this, there are a host of other benefits. By reducing engine time, we reduce fuel consumption and emissions. We create more capacity at airports by wasting less time at the gate. By pirouetting the aircraft at the gate, we reduce the famous congestion that leads to that hated announcement: “Folks, we have landed. But there is an aircraft in the way between us and the gate, and until the way is clear, we will have to wait it out.”
WheelTug will also help with thunderstorm stops, deicing, engine wear, maintenance tows… the overall effect is transformative for ground operations. WheelTug will add more than 10% to the capacity of commercial aerospace: a $1 trillion industry.
Our business model is Equipment-as-a-Service (EaaS), also known within aerospace as “Power by the Hour.” We plan to provide the systems at no charge, and earn our ROI from sharing the proven benefits of the system.
WheelTug has already signed 26 airlines to Letters of Intent, covering over 2,500 aircraft! We have also engaged with numerous airports on feasibility studies. One of them, with Mumbai Airport, concluded that WheelTug will add 2-3 flights per gate per day (adding to a current 8). This is invaluable for airports, airlines, and, of course, the flying public. But it is our shareholders who stand to benefit the most!
